How to Improve your Matches on Abaca
The information you provide on Abaca will help entrepreneurs more quickly navigate what forms of financial and non-financial support is best for their company. The same information will help you identify the best fitting companies faster.
Spending some time refining your profile information, offerings and support preferences is important for two reasons:
- Entrepreneurs on Abaca can learn more about your organization from this information before they attempt to contact you, such as what investment or support you offer, at what levels, for which sectors and locations. Note: your email address will only be visible to those companies you’ve agreed to connect with.
- The more specific you are with your preferences and criteria, the more accurate the match scores will be, saving you time and frustration. Entrepreneurs will also see the match score, so better criteria reduces noise and frustration on both sides.
When you update your profile information, preferences and offerings, your matches and the match scores will also be updated based on your new inputs. There are multiple places where you can update or revise your preferences. They include:
From the Dashboard
Use the “Set your criteria” link to fine tune what kinds of companies you’re looking to support. You can set or refine your sweet spot for Venture Investment Levels, what locations and sectors you’re most interested in, as well as up to 100 different criteria companies may provide.
The “Update profile” link will take you to your My Company page, where you can view and update any and all of the information about your organization. This information helps entrepreneurs identify the best-fitting support and sources of capital.
From the My Company page
On the My Company page, you can update a variety of information at any time. Several boxes throughout the page lead to where you can share and edit information about your organization, including:
- Organization Name / Edit Supporter Info: basic profile information, including Sectors of Interest and Locations of Interest.
- Venture Investment Level Range / Update Level Range: a quick way to adjust at what levels of maturity you focus your support using the Venture Investment Levels
- Get to Know Us / Edit Offerings: Help entrepreneurs understand what you offer before reaching out for a connection.
- What we look for / Edit Criteria: Fine tune criteria you use to find the best matching companies
From the My Network page
From the My Network page, when the Discover tab is showing, you’ll see a hovering "IMPROVE YOUR MATCHES" control at the bottom right of the screen. This will surface questions from the matching criteria that you haven’t yet answered. By opening this box and answering the questions, you can continue to refine matches over time. Your answers will then be available for editing from your My Company page.
By Joining a Coalition
Abaca works with entrepreneurship initiatives around the world to bring together investors, accelerators and other entrepreneur support organizations (ESOs) around a range of shared purposes. By joining a coalition, you will gain access to a pipeline of companies specific to that coalition.
